Assembly import registration

Hello

Since I'm on Solidworks 2024 SP5, I can't save my imports like I used to.

Before, it was possible to open a .*stp file, have the complete assembly tree, and at the time of saving, be able to choose the .*sldasm format with all the components of that assembly in.*sldprt in a single folder.
Now I end up with a .*sldasm assembly file and a single associated .*stp file.

At the moment, I'm cheating by saving my assembly in .*sldprt format as many times as I have parts in the assembly, and then I delete the bodies that aren't useful to me. When there are 5 pieces in the assembly it's playable, but when there are a hundred, it's not the same story.

If you have any leads, I'm all for it.

Thank you in advance.

This is the 3D interconnect option (tools, options):

If you disable it, same behavior as before.
Activate if you replace the step file with a new one of the same name (following update) everything is supposed to update and if used in another assembly and no difference between the constrained faces (after update) everything must follow.

3dinterconnect also allows you to open a step faster (normally...)
If you need to break this step link afterwards (like you here) right click on the step link and Break the link (and you end up as before with several Stp files.

Each method has its advantages and disadvantages.

Great, it's exactly what I was looking for.
Opening is faster with 3D interconnect enabled, I think I'll leave it and break the link manually.

Thank you :+1:
