Sheet thickness

Quick question: What do we mean by 15/10 sheet, it's a 1.5mm sheet?

Thank you!

Hello

It is the thickness of the sheet: 15 tenths of a millimeter so 15x0.1mm=1.5mm

Hello

I  would even say that it is the standard in the field of sheet metal work, I worked in a sheet metal company and they all talk like that! 10/10, 15/10, 20/10 etc...

My friend Google could have answered indeed, but this question is not useless, it reinforces the technological culture (a little bit admittedly) of those who have never asked themselves this question or who have never been confronted with this problem.

Hello

I'm restarting the debate, 15/10 = 1.5 I already knew that. But why express thickness in this way? Where does it come from? Why not just say ep 1.5, or 2 etc...?
