Is it possible to transform a surface body into a volume body?

yes no problem

it is sufficient either to thicken the surface

or if multiple surfaces sew the surfaces together

and once all selected and sewn the log asks if you want to create a volume

The best I think is to post the file to understand the process

Yes! You must first make sure that your shape is waterproof (no holes  and that all surfaces fit well).

Then in the Surface tab you have a tool called "sewn surface". You select try to form a volume and that's it.
