One trick is to save the file as .stl with poor quality.
This will give you your facetized faces.

Can you put us a screen print with annotations on it to show us what you want to have as a result as well as your piece??
Create a 3D sketch that builds on the feature points on the surface, and then create flat faces based on the sketch.
I have already embarked on this kind of project.
