Do you know if it is possible to make an excel extract of a complete SOLIDWORKS tree structure?
Like with the smart bom, have the detail of the picture below:

Personally, I will make a MEP with detailed nomenclature by adding a column to have the complete path of the different elements.
And from there it is very simple to export the bill of materials to Excell.
Straight from the tree, never heard of...

Yes, it's possible, smartbom is made for that.
Here is the help if needed:
To start choosing the columns (rep and path for you as already done)
Then after configuring the export options (tools, Options, Excel Export)
You choose your blank or preformatted export file)
The starting position in your nomenclature (here B6 for me) and its name and some options)
Then you press export (in red)
Otherwise for this possibility to go through an MEP as @a.eriaud says
But with SmartBom properly configured, it's simpler, and easier to share it with other users.

@a.eriaud : You can also insert a bill of materials directly into the 3D
(it avoids the drawing step if it's useless)
