Part Family & Materials 2 - SolidWorks

Yet another question on the subject:

I have configs in a family of parts that have different materials.

Every time I change a Material from one of the configs, when I come back to the Excel table of the part family, I find an "*" in front of all the other materials

What for?

See this link

It seems that it's a generis character of Excell that means anything and everything

So this star must refer to?

For your case can be referred to the basic part of your family of parts?

Thanks @gt22, the video is interesting but I just wonder why SolidWorks reacts like this, i.e. that by changing a material of a config, the other configs take a star in front of their material

I even worse, when changing a material, all the configs take the same material with this star in front. There is certainly a reason.

as said in the video

Your star refers to ?????

so by deduction

when you change material on one ref all the others change

so in my opinion your star corresponds to ref / material

why don't you make a copy of your library

and one file per part material x y z

In general, on a file, we only work on one type of material

and who de+ is you will have your data refs for the simule / density price weight etc.....

No

Thank you gt22,
