Native myCADplace file?

Hello everyone,

I use myCADplace and I would like to know what is the difference between a native file and a collaborative file?

What is a file: native

  ""  ""    ""   ""        : collaborative

Thank you for your help

Sincerely, Nicolas

Hello

I think that:

- the native file will remain in SolidWorks format for example (useful to be downloaded later)

- the collaborative file will be transformed to be visible directly in the browser (useful for collaborative work)

Yes but I want to know if a so-called native part is a normal part that I share and that everyone can reswallow afterwards? As opposed to NA collaborative?

I think not!

As written above, a native file will only be downloadable, and a collaborative file can be opened in the browser in MyCADPlace and can therefore be modified at will by all users with access to MyCADPlace.

Why not give it a try? If you want I send you my email in message so that you give me access and we can try.

As indicated by @SEPM. Gerald :SW 2013/14 on this page http://www.lynkoa.com/forum/3d/pergola-bio-climat?page=5 :

"In the Mycad space there is the possibility to create folders and send them in native format. But for consultations, a conversion is done by simple deposit and thus becomes available to everyone."

And on the next page:

"We can all have different versions of solidworks because anyway the visualization of the parts is converted => everyone visualizes them.

You can take dimensions, you can make cuts, etc... So it's a web drawing with the ability to store files that can be downloaded by all employees"

Hi @ Nicolas

A native part is by definition as I understand it, a room with its own files

So examples:

  • made in SolidWorks 2014 will always be a solidworks 2014 file and anyone who has at least solidworks 2014 will be able to open and modify it as they wish
  • made under SolidWorks 2012 will still be a 2012 file and can be opened with solidworks 2012 and future version, but if you modify the base file via future versions you will no longer be able to open the folder that has been modified (since there the file will have been upgraded from the new version)
  • same for Inventor Catia TopSolid
  • the collaboratf file and a Viewer which allows in theory to visually see the objects created by the software taken into account by this said Viewer, you can visualize taking sides, cutting etc...

hoping to have answered you as well as possible

In the Pergola project@nicolas deposit your file as collaborative data (the assembly in the root file) and to take advantage of the other your parts you use the folder that has been made available to you in order to deposit the native file.

Be careful in the comments of the doc we talk about direct drag and drop but for natives it is preferable to open the dialog box and select the native or collaborative option depending on what you want
