XML type file not found linked to SMART PROPERTIES

Solidworks delivers a message from an XML file not found linked to the SMART PROPERTIES

Hello

Is the file in an unavailable network location or the name has been changed?

Excerpt from the help for setting up XML files:

By default, there is one XML file per type of document (Part, Assembly, Plan, Mechanically Welded). The location of these files can be configured in the Settings\XML File Location tab.

From the "File" menu you can Open/Save or create new configuration XML files without leaving the interface.

Of course, the name doesn't matter much, and if you need to use the same input mask for part and assembly documents, you can specify the same XML file in  the Settings\XML File Location tab.

The dialog box has 3 tabs.

Regardless of the document on which the properties are applied, the description of the 3 tabs is common.

In this manual, we will take the example of customizing the input mask for documents.

  • The first tab "Properties" corresponds to the setting of the input mask.

The purpose of this customization is to automatically generate files in "xml" format for each of the environments:

- "SmartProperties_prt. xml" for documents documents.

- "SmartProperties_asm. xml" for assembly documents

- "SmartProperties_drw. xml" for documents that are drawn

- "SmartProperties_Feat.xml" for mechanically welded folders

These files will be saved in the directory of your choice.

  • The second tab "Table of contents properties" allows the creation of Windows properties
  • The third tab "Settings" allows the general configuration of the SmartProperties utility where you will find all the options of the tool.

Hello

I can't find the "parameter" tab to change the location of XML files

Hello

When you launch SmartProperties, the Settings button is at the very bottom of the information window.

To open the settings, a picture is worth a thousand words:
