Excell files that swell

Hello, I am calling on our experts Solidworks and Excell.

we use a lot of parts family linked to an internal Excell file and sometimes the . SLDPRT or . SLDASM begins to swell almost exponentially. After months (years) of teeth grinding, I found out that it was due to the excell file itself swelling. If you open the attached file and go to the last occupied cell (ctrl-End), you should get to cell FH619 when in reality the last cell should be FH200. Does anyone know how to repair this file and what causes this error? (We use Solidworks 2013 and Excell 2013 but the problem already appeared in the versions since 2008)

P.s. If needed, I will provide a . SLDPRT but as the information is sensitive I will have to reduce it to its simplest expression.

Hello, there is a bug reported to SolidWorks regarding this issue under the number 593762:

The file size has substantially increased with a large number of configurations which are renamed via editing design table in excel

A priori there is no solution. Which version of SolidWorks are you on? Do you have the latest SP?

Hello

Is the file linked or integrated into the part file?

We used a linked file (see attachment), for our screws.

This resulted in reduced performance each time an assembly containing fasteners was recorded!

We have therefore chosen to reintegrate the tables into the part file. Performance really changes.

Generally speaking, to reduce the size of an excel file, you should go to cell A1 just before saving.

If this is not enough, you should delete the rows and columns beyond the last cell actually occupied, move to A1 and save.

Thank you for your research. :)

Pell-mell:

1- We use SW2013 SP5.0

2- Whether the file is linked or embedded, the problem also occurs but does not produce a crash when it is embedded, only long, up to very very long opening and saving times (20 minutes and more).

3- As for deleting unwanted rows and/or columns, if you try to do it with the attached file, you will see that it is impossible to do. The only way to do this is to create a copy of the tab. This method is not so restrictive as long as the links of the indirect kind(address(blah blah blah..... are called from this page. Otherwise, I get links #ref.

4- We submitted files to the people at Solidworks who sent us back a response... laconic.

Once again thank you
