Hi all
I'm looking for a good method to integrate "machine bricks" into an assembly, without necessarily having all the internal details, in order to lighten the overall assembly.
I'm currently studying the "defeature" function which seems to me, on paper, suitable for this use. However, in the tutorials available, it is difficult to know which configuration options are the most suitable. That's why I'd like to know if anyone could give feedback here on their use of this function, good practices, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Hello
Can you specify the SW version you use because they have much, much, improved this function with the 2021.
Here is for the 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CEgSuG6DcA
For the light model I advise you to first make a pack and go in order to cut the links with the original model so that it is impossible to go back to the original model.
Kind regards
Good evening
I'm also in SW 2019

There are also the speed pack configs even if not really convinced by this type of config to the good manual config made by hand by removing screws and other interior elements.
The advantage is that you can switch from one config to another while with defeature you have to re-constrain since the assembly becomes a part.

Thank you for your answers.
I know a little about Speedpacks (even if I would have to go deeper).
What I find interesting in what I've seen of the Feature feature is the ability to remove internal parts and simplify some of the outer faces (keeping the necessary precision on the functional faces). However, in the tests I did, sometimes it goes well and sometimes it grinds for a long time, without me really knowing why...
