I am self-taught and I use Autodesk Inventor Professional 10.0 Instructional Version.
I do have a license number, without an expiration date.
The "Text" function is inactive in drawing mode (Standard.idw) as well as in sketch mode (Standard .ipt) which for the moment I don't need it.
I looked for help on the net, without result, especially since English is not my strong suit.
Maybe you will tell me that with a pedagogical version it's normal, but this function was active for a while without understanding how it worked and not anymore.
Maybe something escapes me, ....

I had the same problem as you. In fact, it came from a Microsoft patch that blocked the text function in outline mode.
Just find which fix and uninstall it and everything will go back to normal.

I'm still without the "Text" function.
The KB .... of WINDOWS doesn't change anything, with or without (Frank's suggestion).
The TS1069046_R10 (and R11) corective found by the paths you indicate does not work.
I don't have the exact answer in mind, but it meant that this patch didn't recognize the file installed on my PC (suggestion from Mathieu and Lucas).
If you have other ideas, I'm always interested.
