Customer Plan Management with SolidWorks PDM

Hi all

Currently in the process of migrating (kindly, but surely) the CAD data from Workgroup to PDM std, I am now faced with a new problem:

In addition to the CADs we generate for our customers, we now have customers who manage their design and generate their own files in solidworks. These have their own personal properties, the drawings have their own basemaps...

Is it a good idea to want to manage this customer CAD data in our PDM? If so, based on your experiences, what are the best practices/pitfalls to avoid?

Hello

It all depends on how you use the trunk. If you use data cards for search, customer files that do not contain the properties mapped to your variables will not be returned.

Afterwards, if you follow them through your workflow, the missing properties will be added to the files.

There is just the question of versions, PDM knows how to properly manage files for N-2 versions compared to the major version of PDM. It does not know how to handle files that would be created on higher versions.
