It is possible to insert an image into a catdrawing but if you want to edit it, it is only offered in the bmp format to save it.
Are there any options that allow for more advanced image management? or
Is there a CATIA module more suitable for this kind of manipulation?
Thank you
Hello not only BMP
Note, you're talking about image import (external) or drawing view (BMP image).
In the first case you are supposed to have the original.
In the second case from the 3D Tools / images / capture (not much better) if it's a rendering you're looking for it's "PhotoStudio"

Hello
I'm talking about imported images. This is to be able to manage old plans in tif in our PLM and precisely not have the original image file anymore.
Hello
If I understand correctly, you want to use CATDrawing as a container to archive a tif image file and be able to edit it again.
You won't get better than BMP with CATIA.
Yes, I want to use the drawing as a container. Thank you for your answer.
I was asking because my "raster" editor, WiseImage, displays bmp files created by catia but does not allow their editing. I don't know WiseImage well enough yet so I'll dig into that.
I found a solution:
Save catdrawing in tif format
Edit the image, save it in TIF format
In a view of a catdrawing, import the image.
