I would like to know how you manage your plan numbers in your companies, by that I mean do you have specific macros for that? Do you have a list of plans with all your plan numbers? I knew a company that was under CATIA V5, which as soon as a drawing was opened there was a dialog box that asked for a plan number etc.
we enter designation / type of machine / serial number of machine ... in this file for later search.
in //, we have a CAPM (sylob7) to manage assembly bills of materials and manufacturing launches as well as ePDM to manage the database of 3D files.
we are trying to create the link between ePDM and sylob7 so that we only have to enter the data relating to the parts once (for assemblies, it's more complicated)
Hello, we use our ERP Sage X3 for coding, and then we use SmartProperties in SolidWorks to enter the code. The basic SolidWorks utility has developed a lot in the last few years it seems to me too.
At home, I got into the habit (good or not) of entering these values in my questionnaire.
I create my part, then in my questionnaire I fill in the name of the customer, the name of the site, the reference of the order etc... Nothing prevents you from adding a plan number.
For the rest, a simple windows search with one of these fields filled in is usually enough to find my map.
For us, it's an external software that guides us. Before creating a part, we go to DIVALTO (our external software), we create it and we are the ones who fill in the part number. We can't duplicate it because it detects that the number exists or not. On the other hand, it does not generate on its own.
In the company I used to work in, they had a macro developed for that. (There were 100 of us at the BE so it had to be automatic). It automatically generated a code.
Hello, at home, we use the property form, it fills in part by itself, fills in our cartridge but as for the plan number, we type it by hand, according to a procedure that we have defined. Although we could just as easily concatenate properties to auto-populate it...
For my part, I write down the numbers manually and report them in an excel table with a hyperlink, but I'm alone so it's easier.
on the other hand it's the clue that is the most annoying and I only put it on pdfs after the plan number not having found the way to automate the revision
In the automotive industry, we use M-plm for our bills of materials and the coding that goes with it. It is a question of configuring the type of codification in the software. An example of codification that I have known:
A xxx yyy zzz for customer offer plan
B xxx yyy zzz for product assemblies
D xxx yyy zzz for subsets
Cxxx yyy zzz for primary parts
Y xxx yyy zzz for proto, studies
With xxx company site numbering for large groups
YYY the family of parts in groups where the parts are varied a classification was defined (e.g. gasket, shim, spring etccc)
Incremental zzz
Coding is specific to each company according to its sector of activity and its needs. It is sometimes very smart to give it a coding that can meet the needs of organization.
Then, using a PLM or an Excel macro or a simple list, you make the choice according to the company's means. A plm allows you to manage all the numbering with the possibility of tracing the history with an indicage.
Here if you want more information I remain at your disposal
