Grayed out measurement icons with dwg in edrawing

Measurement icons are grayed out when opening a dwg file.

How do I allow the measurement to be taken on the file?

Found the solution:

  • go to Tools /options 
  • in the General tab, deselect the "Disable SOLIDWORKS Network license" option.
