Hello
A customer sent me a 3D file with the extension . Catpart
After a little research, I see that this file comes from the Catia software.
Since Catia is part of Dassault system, I assume that it is possible to import it into Solidworks.
But impossible.
Is there an add-on or plugin that allows this?
Thank you in advance.

From memory there are bridges.... Paid.
Well yes, as it's the same group they don't facilitate the transfer to make the business work! Everything is good!
Ask for the part in STEP or Parasolid, you will save your time!

Where is the world going!!!
Self-competition. really anything!
Thank you for the info!
Not bad this little @Gt22 site, paying, but there is everything!
Try asking for the file to be sent to you in another format.
If it's a large file, the .igs (IGES) is very convenient.
Otherwise, you can ask for a .sat file (ACIS), a little heavier but better rendered.
The must (for me) is the .step (STEP), the file is still quite long to convert, it is quite heavy but it keeps a certain creation tree which is very useful. In addition, depending on the type of file, you won't end up with a countless list of parts named "Imported xxx" but each part will keep its original name, which is very practical for spotting!
Cdt.

I asked him to send me a WWTP
That way I'm fixed =)
I downloaded cross manager which looks free!!
I install it to check but if it works it's great!!!!
Thank you gt22 and Benoit!!

From experience, the IGES goes better than the STEP between catia and solidworks.
With the step, I often have pieces with missing surfaces that are impossible to close to transform them into volume. The problem is less of a problem.
(at the same time, the surface and I make three)

@Pascal: just check "solid" in the options when exporting to STEP and no more missing surfaces!

@Tomalam:
That's what my client has to say:D :D
More seriously, it's the catia to SW direction that is causing problems.
Indeed I don't master the export options of my client (who often plays the head of the pickaxe)
I even had one who once told me: "You just have to buy Catia, to adapt to me"

Well, I installed the software to test it.
It is in a free version for exporting one part at a time. In my case, no problem.
On the other hand, when I start the conversion, it puts me in status: No license.
But I know that I don't have a license since I'm in the free version.

So it doesn't work or he just puts the message for your information?
I think there are a lot of Datakit people on Lynkoa. But I don't remember who.

Hello
Datakit software is not free, or I was "fooled"!!!
There is a demo version that works for a few days, but from memory you have to request a provisional license file...

I have both software, I can open it for you and save it for you in parasolid or step if you want. ;)

Thank you for the attention you give me... =)
For this file, I was able to get the .step version, so for this part it's ok.
This is in case in the future, if I need to convert parts, I would like to know why he is asking me for a license.
Apparently, you have to ask for a demo license.
I am looking into this
Thank you

Hello
Does the datakit plug-in for example catia to SW keep all the info such as the build tree with the different functions and transforms the catia file into native solidworks? ;)
