Insert image with property

 Hello!!

We are on SW 2014 (we are in the process of moving to 2016) and we would need your knowledge for two solutions that we would like to implement.

The first is that (cf : photo) for the moment we insert the signature that is in the painting by doing insertion/image/signature.jpg  . Is it possible to do this by using the personalized table such as the date and name ?

The second question : is it possible to insert  the date/name/signature on several plans by doing only one manipulation ? Like with the cadware module to export several plans in pdf at once.

Thank you in advance for your answers ;)

Hello

For the first question, I'm afraid not.

For the second, it can be difficult because if the plans have different formats (A4 and A3) the signature will not be in the right place!

That's what it seemed to me.

thank you anyway for your answers and your responsiveness (as usual)

Let's see if other people have interesting proposals!

I think a macro should be able to:

- choose the file according to the content of the table

- place the image according to the format

Yes, a macro can do it but not automatically: you have to launch the macro (or replace the save or print button ) and the integration of the images according to the format, it's not always practical.

How many different signatures are there?

One idea that could work (for both questions) if there is only one signature (but still tinkering), is to display the default signature, and display a note on top of it.

If the text of the note is blank, then the signature will appear.

Hello

To answer your questions, we each have our own basemaps with our signatures in them and with our name and ownership of the date of creation of the file. I think it's also possible to create this as a nomenclature with a table; the automatic date and the name and signature for each person.

There are four of us, it's true that the idea of each having our own background plans with the signature already above is not stupid. we will just have to take 4 times more the day we want to make a modification on it^^

A note could hide a signature and through properties make this note disappear?

At home, I traced the signatures in spline and then created blocks that I display or not in the cartridge.

And can we insert a block via the custom properties? we would all like to manage from this panel, and not go looking for images/blocks/paintings elsewhere

Hello

I'm quite curious about the use you make of signatures!

A signature is by definition a mark affixed by a person who has read the document, but here you are talking about inserting a signature in advance in your documents.

This post is absolutely not a criticism but I am trying to understand: if your signature is not manual then why bother making a signature?? A simple checkmark in a corner of the title block or a custom property asking to check a "signature" or "visa" box wouldn't fulfill this function? This is super easy to set up and can involve several people.

The solution of the image file is possible by hacking but it challenges me.

Thank you for enlightening me if your need to have a "manual type" signature

I understand yes, it's that we are asked to sign the plans (computerically is not a problem). Doing it on paper means that you have to scan them to have them as a pdf file and the resolution is less good, not to mention that you have to rename all the scanner files by the name of the plan.

edit: and the boxes are filled in as the steps go by and not all at the beginning

Ok I understand better then!

In this case, I offer you a solution that is worth what it is worth that is simple to implement. Today I use in my MEPs stamps (sketches that I have saved as a block)  that I regularly use to mention a PROTO or URGENT or COMMON PIECE ...

Then in my task pane, I create a buffers folder and all I have to do is drag and drop in my MEPs: see PJ to understand.

You could also consider making 4 blocks of sketches corresponding to your 4 signatures and slipping them into your MEPs whenever you want.

@tictic

I'm interested if there is a solution to insert a signature via the properties and even better if you can choose between several signatures

edit: I hadn't seen the answer, yes it's not the custom properties directly but it's still easier than going through insert/...

I think we're going to go for this solution, all that's left to do is to do the signatures en bloc

I've never used it, but I think it should be able to meet your request. Why not use PDF signatures?

I assume that your plans are saved in this format, and affixing the signature at the end would not have a certain "automation" of the signature while keeping it digital (Because, as a result, I agree with @TicTic. I find it quite counterproductive)

Signature PDF

Other PDF signature (and better explained)

Well then you have to have another table for the modifications. Here's how we do it; See attached

We tried the signature on PDF but it was too cumbersome as a procedure, that's why we wanted to do them directly in the solidworks
