My IT department installed solidworks but not cosmoswork at the same time, do I have to start the complete installation again (I don't have the rights) or is there a way to get the license back on solidworks otherwise.

No, it is not necessary to start the entire installation again.
If you are under maintenance you can download the installation setup on the web: https://customerportal.solidworks.com/
However, it is necessary to have an account.
On the other hand, if in your position you don't have the rights. You'll need to call on your IT department.

You can do "modify installation" and check the Solidworks Simulation options.

on Windows 7, you can go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
You click on Solidworks then Edit and finally, follow the steps by including the module(s) to install.
