Inventor: Constrain an Edge/Point on a Face

Hello

I have a rectangular section leg to assemble in a tube. To do this, I would like to constrain the edge on the cylindrical face.

Is this possible?

I tried to play with the "selection filters", I manage to select the edge of the leg but no way to get the face of the cylinder, systematically it takes the axis of the cylinder.

Thank you

Hello

Can you take a screenshot so that we can see a little better?

There, I selected the edge of the leg, and when I bring my cursor close to the tube (it doesn't appear on the capture), it only offers me the axis.

I can't test because I don't have my pc at hand.

It doesn't offer you anything else in select other?

Otherwise, create a middle  plane on both sides of your leg and add a constraint between this plane and the middle plane of your tube.

Hello, as @yves T. says, if you can't constrain an axis and a surface, try to constrain between planes.

In fact, it's not so much that the lug is centered but that it is at the right "height" in the tube, without going through too many intermediaries (like sketching in the lug to create an axis corresponding to that of the tube)

Hello

I take up what Yves says judiciously.T

On the other hand, it is possible to tange an edge to a cylindrical surface.

Indeed, it meets the need.

The behavior is still surprising:
For me, a straight edge tangent to a cylinder should remain parallel to the axis of the cylinder, there the part kept rotating degrees of freedom following the perpandicular to the axis of the cylinder.
