Hello
I would like to have your opinion between renting a Solidworks license (premium) or buying it. All with maintenance of course.
I didn't know SW was renting...
It depends on many things, including:
- duration of the rental;
- interest in having the latest versions;
- number of position(s);
- fixed or floating license(s);
- foreseeable evolution of the fleet.
Can you tell us more about the context?
Hi
In terms of renting, I don't know how it works... (in fact I didn't even know that you could rent solidworks, is it new? )
But at the level of purchase, even if you stop the maintenance, the program
you can still use it :), you can no longer update it
After I will say it all depends on the price you pay, the time you use it, etc...
Same, I didn't know you could rent SW.
Among other parameters to consider:
- need to have the latest version (although this concerns more maintenance than rental);
- Number of workstations / licenses (and type of license: fixed or floating);
- duration of the rental;
- Foreseeable evolution of the machine park / license.
The problem of the version is to be taken into account:
- Do you work only internally (you have your product range that you develop) or in relation to customers who entrust you with their files?
- namely that once a file has evolved to a higher version, you can hardly go back.
