Hi all

Yes, but we need to create environments with vegetation, architecture and above all add 3D characters to give them life.
Currently on solidworks there are very few resources for all this and moreover, the assemblies become very heavy and long to work.
Hello
To achieve what you want to do, you should look at MODO, a software from FOUNDRY.
I have a good friend of mine who only does mod and who sometimes asks me for Solidworks files, especially for rigging (example an escalotor). Solidworks natively accepts MODO files, they are at the very bottom of the file extensions when you save under (Luxologie scene *.lxo).
You also have an ADDON modo for solidworks that costs around $300.
You should know that in reality photoview 360 is a light version of MODO in version 801 from memory. Visualize is the old Bunkspeed which is more oriented towards pure rendering, it only does texturing and illumination very fast in response time and does not do modeling like Zbrush and others would do.
On the other hand for your problem you have a MODO ADDON named XfrogPlants also in the $30 here is the link Here are some pictures of Xfrog you can buy for affordable amounts trees and plants
There you have it!
The problem is whether or not you want to maintain a dynamic link between the SW model and the model used for rendering.
Thank you Zozo_mp for your complete answer.
This software does indeed look interesting. Since you know someone who uses it, we would have liked to know if MODO was getting the looks of SOLIDWORKS.
Because we have pieces that have several appearances and putting them back would waste a lot of time?
And to answer stefbeno (thank you also for your answer), both options are possible yes. But I think that the number of compatible software should be limited with a dynamic link...
Good evening
OR it recovers the appearances (the appearances are not specific to SW) because some come from MODO . However, remember you have to give the right path to get everything back.
Even visualize and fully compatible with the appearances that can be found on the Foundry website in particular.
In fact, appearances are only images that are mapped in more or less complex ways. These are either simple images or HDRI for everything that is environmental.
Look at the appearance extensions and you'll see that most of them are JPEGs and other formats more accurate than JPEG.
Kind regards
PS: look here at the principle of UV mapping if you are interested. This is how you can have faces with complicated designs on the skin, or on objects with complex shapes.
Thank you very much Zozo_mp.
I just installed the trial version of MODO.
I opened my Solidworks assemblies directly and the basic appearances are well preserved.
There are just the textured appearances or images that have jumped, but it's just the links to redo I guess.
Thank you very much in any case
