My memory is saturated

Hi all

Today I start Solidworks 2015 and I receive an error message that tells me that my memory is full and that I should not continue, I find it weird, yet I start solidworks without a program, it should have enough memory. Is the problem coming from a windows 10 update?.

I check on the net and I discover that I have to allocate part of my memory. But before fiddling  with my pc, I'm going to ask the experts at solidworks.

Does this problem mean anything to you?

Hello again,

While reading a post on the subject I discovered in the task manager that google chrome was taking up a large part of the memory. I disabled it and I don't get any more error messages. In the future when I use solidworks I will disable google chrome because I don't have the possibility to add memory my pc is full at 8 giga of ram.

Did I find the problem? Is there another solution?

Hello

Your configuration  is  really very limited

Here are the prerequisites  recommended by solidworks

Hello

@yannick.petit would have said it better than me but remember not to load the SW modules at startup that are not always useful to you.

Also, if you are doing assemblies (in addition to using all the ASM lightening optimization schemes), remember to close SW several times a day and restart it because SW mismanages memory. I have a very strong machine and I have the PB all the time.

Kind regards

Thanks for the info, I will have to manage Sw better in the future so that it downloads what is useful.

Hello.

16GB is a minimum for working on something other than simple parts.

You should know that windows 10 reserves a memory space proportional to the memory size. Windows modulates this size during the use of programs.

Solidworks for a 16GB RAM machine, starts warning the user that the memory is full around 10GB of occupancy. All you have to do is close the other programs to be able to continue working. You can also pay attention to the Solidworks add-ons that are loaded when it is launched.

On the other hand, when working on large files, they are opened and then closed, and memory fragmentation occurs. In this case, closing Solidworks can help, but sometimes you have to go as far as restarting the machine.

Kind regards.
