Hello, I just changed the version of solidworks from 2015 to 2016, and I am looking to put the parts and assembly of pdm in version 2016 via a macro, to avoid reopening everything save in the right version and re-archive.
Do you have a macro that will do the trick please?
The SOLIDWORKS PDM File Version Upgrade utility upgrades an earlier version of SOLIDWORKS files to a later SOLIDWORKS file format.
After you upgrade the files, you can no longer open them in earlier versions of SOLIDWORKS.
The tool automatically extracts, upgrades, and archives SOLIDWORKS files stored in SOLIDWORKS PDM vaults . File references, revision tags, and workflow states remain intact.
The only file formats upgraded are .sldprt, .slddrw, and .sldasm. Manually upgrade SOLIDWORKS model and block files.
To reduce the time it takes to upgrade, you can perform simultaneous upgrades on multiple workstations, each running the upgrade tool. The first workstation running the upgrade tool acts as the master station and creates the upgrade plan. This plan is composed of several configuration files, one for each station participating in the upgrade process. For details, see Creating and Working with Setup Files.
The setup files contain three structures that reflect the parent-child relationships of the SOLIDWORKS files. Both the master and slave workstations can run additional tuning files after they have finished processing the former. Although parts and subassemblies can be shared by other assemblies, each file is upgraded only once.
If an assembly references parts that are not of the latest version, you can choose a version parameter that links the assembly to the latest version of the parts it references. You can also choose a version setting that replaces the existing version of the referenced files with the latest version. See Selecting Version Settings.
The system requirements depend on the database that is being upgraded. It is affected by the structure of the database (number of files, versions, and references to be converted).
The Version Settings screen allows you to specify which versions and revisions of the selected file type are upgraded and whether previous versions are replaced.
Before upgrading SOLIDWORKS files in a Production Vault, test run a copy of the Production Vault to ensure that there are no issues. Contact your reseller (VAR) for help creating a copy of your vault.
