Hello
C43
It is an unalloyed steel with 43% carbon.
For heat treatment (weldable, etc)
On the other hand I think it's Italian
C40 or C45 is used.
+1 Franck, it's not French, you have to find out on foreign sites I think.
Here is a table of co-ordination.

At first glance for surface dipping.
You just have to search for XC42TS French designation, you can find all the information on the net.
Hi BATCH123!,
I think it is a problem of seniority of designation.
The XC48 became the C45.
The C45 is available in the Sub-Din Steel (non-alloy) material list
Yes, it's enough to get lost with the old and new designations
Hello
Below is a very practical site for correspondences.

The C43 is not referenced. I would also say C45.

Hello BATCH123!
Could this be what you are looking for?
I don't know if the c43 is the same as the c45.
In the list there is but source to check because apparently Franck said that there was 43% carbon in it
The carbon content changes, so more rigidity but less tolerance of elastic deformation!
Here is a document where we find the C43 (Italian standard) and equivalent.
That should help.
