System memory with solidworks

Hello

Since solidworks 2014 we have a recurring problem on the RAM.

When we open several assemblies in a row, the memory fills up little by little and even if we close the assemblies, the memory never empties until saturation and solidworks crashes

We have 12GB of ram I was advised to increase the virtual memory of the system

Is this a good solution? If so, how much should I put in?

Thank you

Hello

How big is virtual memory now?

See here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/fr-fr/windows/change-virtual-memory-size#1TC=windows-7

Have you installed the latest SP, SP5? Because a memory bug has been fixed in the 2014 SP1 version!

Are you sure it's not a configuration problem?

You can reset the SolidWorks settings by following my tutorial:

http://www.lynkoa.com/tutos/3d/reinitialiser-les-parametres-solidworks

Is the graphics card up to date? See this link:

https://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/videocardtesting.html

If you are in the premium version, it is advisable not to load add-ons that are not used every day in Add-ons > Options (such as Simulation, etc.).

Otherwise, a solution that is recommended is to close SolidWorks at least at noon for example.

If none of the solutions work, we can check and test this method too:

-which processor

-12 Ghz RAM what frequency

It is also useful to use the locking bar for the parts

which miniminimizes the reconstruction time - of memory used

Hello;

I agree with .PL for a daily shutdown of Solidworks, I will add that it is also interesting to run the "Solidworks RX" utility to empty your Temporary files and automatic backups.

-> Note, frequent cleaning of workstations with the Windows "Clean" tool (or CCleaner) is also desirable.
