Hi all We are on Solidworks with our database on a windows directory. We are switching to the 3dexperience and we want to avoid duplicate parts in the 3Dex when importing. Do you have a solution, how did you migrate from windows to 3Dexp? Mass transfer or transfer by assembly?
Hello Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we want to migrate our solidworks database currently on windows for the 3Dexperience pdm. For the choice, it was quite limited: PDM reseller or PDM 3Dexp, the choice fell on the Dassault solution and we did the 3d 3dexp training. Our question is to avoid creating duplicates in the 3Dexp when importing successive assemblies/plans with the same parts. Kind regards
Thank you for your feedback, I will find out about this solution and maybe I will also have feedback from a user who has been confronted with the same problem. Kind regards
It's a bit old now for us, but from memory when we migrated from windows → Solidworks EPDM (company), there were analysis utilities to find duplicates, missing reference problems... And so there's a lot of cleaning work before doing the migration. A very important parameter too: do you want to have only unique file names? It's much more difficult to clean (especially if the design office tended to call all its parts: screws, bolts, sheet metal...) but once cleaned it's much cleaner / easier to manage.
NB: Solidworks EPDM (company) is a bit like the 3D experience but stored on your own servers. Personally, I'm not a fan of the mandatory internet access for the design office to work (3Dexperience solution). In our country, we have already had cuts of several days (excavator blow on the motorway fibre network).
NB2: embarking on this kind of migration without having a help service from a reseller is a bit masochistic. You may end up with poorly done settings/workflows or not adapted to your company.
