Hi all.
I have to do the PDM update in 2019, at the beginning of the installation, it asks me if I should install a new instance of SQL server or if I want to reuse an existing database.
If someone has already made a migration, can they tell me what choice to make?
thank you in advance
Hello Todesco,
Since it's an update I think it's better to reuse the existing database if the version of the SQL server installed is compatible.

Hi all.
I'll get back to you to inform you.
To successfully migrate to a new version of the PDM, you must:
- That ALL PDM documents are properly archived
- Make a backup of the SQL database
- Make a copy of the entire PDM (Computer Adm)
- Launch the SW install setup on the server in Administrator mode.
Normally it recognizes server products right away - Update the PDM (the license manager update will be done later)
- Carefully select the PDM types (Standard or Professional) and installation paths
- Select 'Use an existing database' with the admin ID of the SQL database (usually the ID is 'sa')
- At the end of the installation, go to the SWPDMServeur\Update folder and run Update.exe to have the database recoded in the new version.
- That's it, the migration is complete.
- Do the license manager migration (don't forget to reactivate the keys for it to work properly)
Good luck to all

@ Todesco,
thank you for your summary,
I have to put the PDM at home as well when we have time and even if I have read the documentation several times nothing beats a colleague's recap :-)
