Upgrade to SW2014

Hi all

I just received the DVD of SW 2014 in SP0.0

First SLR download the SP1.0

I just wanted to know if there were any special precautions to take so that the installation went as smoothly as possible.

Kind regards.

Are you installing in parallel with SW 2013?

Do you install via an administrative image?

Personally I install a new version only from SWxxxx.SP4 OR SP5

Hello

Personally I'm going to wait for the SP2 which should be released in January, before using it in production.

The SP2 EV Early Visibility is already usable.

Otherwise make sure that all the workstations are compatible: SW2014 no longer supports vista, xp, office 2003 and server 2003.

Otherwise see the different articles of this forum on SW 2014:

Precisely, is it better to keep 2013 or to crush it, I don't really know how to do it.

We do one installation per station. There are 3 in total.

Kind regards.

For my part I first installed the SP0.0 version

Then after the SP1.0 version these download by themselves and update ;)

That way I was sure not to have any unpleasant surprises in terms of the files;D

With the 2014 version you can open 2013 files, but not the other way around.

So it depends if you send SolidWorks files to partners (the STEP is very suitable and does not have this compatibility problem).

I prefer to install the 2014 SP1 directly:

By downloading all the files from the SolidWorks installation file, it is then possible to easily create an administrative image, which facilitates deployment on several workstations:

To validate the production use of your SW2014 it is better to keep your SW2013.

Before the installation create a system restore point (it costs nothing and it can save you the day if it sucks !!!)

I don't have a good command of installing 2 versions on the same workstation but be careful with the C:\SolidWorks Data directory, it must not be common to the 2 versions it seems to me.

Once you have installed your 2014 version, test it with copies of existing SolidWorks files.

When opening your SW 2013 files with the SW 2014 they will convert to SW2014 and it's irreversible.

Hello

I went directly to 2014 and I didn't have any problems, we have 2 licenses, I did my job in 1st and at the good of 2-3 days since it worked well we did the update on the 2nd workstation, it must also be said that if you install the update, On one of your workstations, your colleagues will no longer be able to act on your new files.

Here I am, I advise you to install it, watch it for 1 or 2 days and if all goes well, go to 2014 on all your posts.

Hello

Thank you all, I'll wait for SP2.0

Codially.
