Change the front view of an assembly

On an assembly, I would like to modify the reference seen from the front for a correct drawing. Can we change the front view => example the top view becomes the front view? Or should we start all over again?

Orient your 3D as you wish, then press the spacebar.

Click on the "Update Standard View" icon (1).

Then click on the icon of the view that will take the orientation on the screen, in this case "Face" (2).

Finally, click on "Yes"

Your 3D views are reoriented.

Hi @ lmonhurel

To do this, the origin must be reconfigured

See this link

Hello, you can indeed reorient your standard views. Orient yourself as you wish (the "Normal to" tool is very handy) ^then right-click in your graphic area and press "Set the current view as a view... " ! Choose your orientation and you're good to go!

See Screenshot for more info;)

Benoit.LF,

I understood the answer but my problem is slightly different:

The view I want to put standard, is not a view that already exists. In fact, it is the left view that would have to be rotated 90° and then updated to standard view. Is it possible?

Thank you for your help.

Screenshot for a better understanding of the problem

Do you want to put your left view in place of the front view without changing the rest of the views?

Yes, a print.screen will be clearer!

Want to change the orientation in the 3D or in the drawing?

If it is in 3D that you need to rotate 90°, you can use the keyboard shortcuts:

- arrows to rotate 10-15° (according to your SW setting)

-Shift + arrows for 90° rotation

-Alt + arrows to rotate 10-15° in a normal way to your screen

-FYI Ctrl + arrows to translate

If you want to rotate the view 90° in the drawing, you have to use the rotation icon (by default it is one of the icons at the top of the graphics window) and indicate the desired angle. Be careful with the meaning!

Hello

It is possible with constraints. On the other hand no fixed parts in the assembly (f)

And then you constrain with the front, straight, top planes on faces or planes of your main piece.

Once finished you fix your piece

Hello

Still on my problem of front view. I rotated my left view 90° as desired, now I would like this view to become my front view. Is this possible? In PC, capture of my left view reoriented.

I have a hard time seeing what's blocking you.

On the drawing, let's imagine that the front view is the original view.

you go into your 3D

you orient your assembly as you want so that it is oriented in front view (the one you want)

You update the satandard views with the manip mentioned above.

=> the drawing updates

yes it's possible, that's what Benoit explains in his first intervention

You press the space bar to bring up the views window.

you click on "update standard views"

you click on "front view"

you validate to get out of the window

So you want to move all of your 3D elements in the assembly coordinate system.

Is your set not constrained enough to free your "Low PVC heart frame" piece and restrain it to orient as you wish?

If your elements "wander" between them, a simple way as long as you haven't constrained too many elements in relation to the reference planes (Face/Top/Right):

_Sélectionnez all your elements

_clic right in the "Form a new subassembly here" tree, a virtual assembly is created.

_Contraignez this new subset according to your wishes

_Clic right on this subassembly "Decomopsing a subassembly"

agree with @pascal and @Benoit.LF

See the "Orientation dialog" section  in the SW help, there is the paragraph "Changing the orientation of the standard views of the model"
