Editing an SW file in inventor

Hello Community,

I searched a little in the forum but couldn't find answers to my question.

I have INVENTOR 2018 at work and a client would like to send me files to modify and adapt but they are in SW.

I can import the file, but not modify it (size, extrusion, diameter of the holes, etc.....)

In the user interface, I have the trees but not access to the functions.

How to do it? Thank you

Is it a part or an assembly?

And what is the Solidworks version?

See among others this communication thread

I first tried with a simple part and no possibility to modify the imported shapes. Thank you

Do you have the SW file?

My problem is not in SW but in inventor. if I import the SW part.... I can see it but no modification possible;)

Look at the import options in Inventor

I understand that the problem

is to be able to modify a file imported from SolidWorks into Inventor

I asked you for the file to see if your SW file was clean if it wasn't sent

To change the import options after importing, right-click the file in the browser, and then choose Edit Import from the shortcut menu.

    • When you import a file, Inventor automatically detects whether the imported file is a part or an assembly, and creates the document accordingly. For example, to import a third-party set file as a part, you must first create a part file or open one, and then import the third-party set file into the part file.

      •   Open  Import CAD Formats
      • Getting Started  Feature Group tab Launch  Import CAD Formats
    • To import to a part file, select :
      • The Manage  Insert  Import Feature Group tab
      • the 3D  Model tab, the Create  Import function group
    • (Not available in Inventor LT) To import to an assembly, click the Assemble  Insert Imported CAD Component  feature group tab.
  1. In the applicable dialog box, set the file types to display the available files.
  2. Select the file you want to import and click Open.
