I work in the design of storage and logistics crates based on metal grids.
After several trials, it turns out that the SolidWorks Simulation module is floundering to give credible results, certainly due to the too large number of knots in this kind of mesh products.
By any chance, do you know of any other professional RDM software?
Hello In bulk: Abaqus, Ansys, Simulia for the biggest. In quick search, I came across RDM6 from the IUT of Le Mans, to see the conditions of use and if it meets the need
For grids, making a model with beams would surely be relevant. On the other hand, the model must be cotton to be made (connection between the threads which are generally placed on top of each other and not welded end to end in the same plane). Even in volume, the contact between the threads must be cotton to manage. Surely the volume of welding must be represented.
Nb: the difficulties mentioned above will surely be true regardless of the software used.
On a grid, there is a weld crush between the vertical and horizontal wires (they fit into each other by about 1mm), so no worries about the volume weld representation. And on Simulation, despite a beam mesh, the result is completely chaotic
