Can we remove pieces from the cut if it is a local cut?

Yes
Right-click on the local cut (In the hatching) then "Property" and "Extent of the cut", just like for a standard cut afterwards.

I had right-clicked on the line and I didn't have "Properties".
It is indeed "in" the local view that the right click gives Properties in the context menu.

Otherwise, as for cross-sectional views, you must tick "exclude screws". If the files are recognized as such, they are automatically excluded from the cut.
Accessible on local cuts by editing the function.
