BOM - name, column, quantity - multiple configurations

Hi all

First of all, I searched the forum for an answer to my question but I couldn't find anything like that... If anyone has an idea, I'm all for it.

I create a bill of materials in a SolidWorks drawing, from an assembly that contains multiple configurations. The nomenclature is created via a template, so all columns and headings are well formalized. EXCEPT, the "quantity" columns added for each configuration other than the default.

In the Solidworks help, I sometimes see "QTE", other times "QTY" and for my part I have "quantity". Where can I set up this text? I don't see it anywhere in the SolidWorks options...

It's not much, but it's a pain to change it for every new nomenclature I create.

Thank you and have a good day.

Hello

Once your BOM has been set up properly, you need to register a model BOM type "BOM plan client.sldbomtbt" and save it.

This model will have to be reused the next time the bill of materials is inserted on a new drawing.

I have the same problem with an assembly configured for Qty.

And this even if I use an already registered customer bill of materials.

On the default config, no worries if I change the nomenclature to another config ->PB too.

Thank you froussel for your feedback. sbadenis describes the same problem well.

My *.sldbomtbt BOM is set up with the QTE column. When adding other configurations, I get "Configuration Name"/quantity at the top of the column. It is this word "quantity" that I set in QTE.

Thank you.

Hello

I tried the system option > drawing > change the name of the quantity column in the bill of materials (Qty), but this time it's the configuration name that is not implemented, (it may be a bug on my workstation!?).

Hello

If I have understood the problem correctly, it should help you,

Why doesn't the quantity column title in a newly created BOM match the quantity title name specified in the BOM template?

This is a limitation of BOM templates when the assembly has multiple configurations.  Internally, SolidWorks creates a separate quantity column for each configuration, but only applies the model's quantity title to the quantity column of a single configuration.  It is not possible to specify multiple titles for different configurations in a model, as this would create an impossible situation in which a model would not work with assemblies with a different number of configurations.

Hello

Thank you theo.cuadrado for this detailed answer! So I'm going to have to stick to manual editing every time.

Thank you Lynk for the system option that I hadn't seen. I have the same behavior as you: all the new "quantity" columns for several configurations have the right name ("QTE") but the name of the configuration no longer appears... It's the snake that bites its tail...

Have a nice day
