On one of our SW2015 workstations, when we perform a STEP export, SW automatically re-imports the file as soon as it has created it. This can be very long for heavy assembly.
We can't find the option (as for pdfs for example) so that SW doesn't open the step he just created.
So how can we prohibit this automatic opening of the STEP file?
When I export my .step files, I proceed by saving as, then saving as and continuing. In the next window, I choose the extension in step and my file doesn't open afterwards.
However, if you choose Save As and Open, then solidworks will open the step you just created.
If this window doesn't open, it may be that at some point you asked that it no longer open and it recorded the choice that was made... I don't know how to reset
Yes, the solution was the ignored message to save it as!
By default this station was in "save and open", and as soon as you ask for a step the reminder of this option at the bottom of the recording window disappears, so I didn't think about it ;-)
By the way, the re-activation is in the system option, tab "message/error/warning", and check the box corresponding to the ignored dialog.
