Opening file step

Hello

I just invested in the new 2018 SP3 version of SolidWorks and a customer sent me a step file of a small assembly. I open it and then the trouble begins. I have all the components in volume but impossible to open them individually. I can't do anything with it (hell!). No matter how much I went through all the available menus, nothing at all. So I went back to my 2015 version with which I was able to have individual access to each component without any problem. Of course they were surface and I had to sew them beforehand but it's so quickly done. I have the vague impression of putting a fool of myself with this new version.

Do any of you have an explanation, thank you in advance

Hello

Have you tried saving your 2015 SW settings and reloading them in 2018 to see if it's a setting issue???

Backup/Restore Solidworks Settings

Hello

This comes from the new 3D Interconnect feature in SW 2018.

Yes, the new function loads a 3D visual and not a volume/surface conversion.

To be like in the 2015 version, you need to uncheck the "Enable 3D interconnect" box in the Import/general menu.
