Opening .ifc .step . sat ULTRA Long or impossible on Solidworks 2016

Hi all

I have a "slight" problem on Solidworks 2016. I receive parts from suppliers in .step / .sat / .ifc format etc. and the computer I have takes more than 5 hours (when it doesn't fully blew the software) to open files of all sizes (from 2,000KB to 300,000KB) and I don' t count the time to save it in Solid format which takes even longer...

Only Solid files open more or less normally.

Operating System: Windows 7 Pro

My computer has processor: Intel Xeon CPU E-1650 v3  3.50GHz

and has 64 GB of RAM in memory

I was able to try the files on another computer with solidworks 2018 and having the same RAM properties and the vendors' files open in barely 15 minutes...

Do any of you have an idea where the problem can come from?

I thought it could come from the SolidWorks version (2016 and 2018) but it's really about opening files other than Solid

Hoping you can help me,

Thanks in advance,

Natacha

Hello

Have you compared the aperture settings? When you make file open, you select your file type and go to the settings and look at the differences.

Maybe we should also clean up the computer which is probably older and therefore more old files in memory...

Hello

The opening settings look similar...

I have two computers on site with the Solid license and I tried to set them up differently (large assemblies etc...) But nothing works...

The cleaning was done a week ago, I work on my desk directly and not on the company's server to avoid rowing even more but nothing helps...

The mysteries of Solid... Thank you for your answers, I keep looking..
