PDM adding property

As an administrator how can you add additional properties to a part in PDM,

Hello

Are we talking about Enterprise PDM?

You need to add a variable to the data card, so that it is related to a SolidWorks custom property.

See this video to map a variable to a custom property:

Adding Custom Properties to Documents

By mapping variables to the Custom Properties section of Office files, you can choose to display the information entered in the file data card in the document.

To add a custom property to a document:

  1.  Create a variable called Project ID (Project ID).
  2.  Click New Attribute.
  3.  Under Selected Attribute:
    1.  For the Block Name, choose CustomProperty .
    2. For Attribute Name, type Project ID.
    3. Also enter the file extensions that will use this comma-separated variable mapping.
  4.  Click OK.
  5. Double-click Maps .
  6. In the Map Editor, open the Office Map file data card.
  7. Add an edit box and select the new Project ID variable as the Variable Name.
  8. Save the map and close the map editor.
  9. Create a new Microsoft Word document in the vault and enter the data in the Project ID text box.
  10.  Open the document and click File > Properties .

Open the Custom tab , the Properties list displays the new Project ID property.

  11.  To use the document property information in the document body or header, insert a field related to the value of the property:
    1.  Place the cursor where you want to display the value and select Insert > Field .
    2. Locate the DocProperty field and select the Project ID custom property.

The value automatically appears as a field in the document.

If you update the value in the file data card, you must refresh the page content in Word (Ctrl+A) to view the updated field information. You can also create a macro to refresh the data automatically.

@gt22 I think you're off-topic, we're not talking about it here:)

it must be my bad days ;-)
