Can a simulation be recorded, in configuration?

With the SW Simulation tool of the Premium version, I perform a simulation on a spring blade, in order to see the deformation, and I would like to save my deformation as a second configuration. This would allow me to have two configurations: at rest, and under stress. So I will be able to put in my assembly, my blade comes out in constrained configuration (with the deformed). Is this possible?

Hello, yes it's possible, you have to right-click on the results folder, then choose save the deformed body and then choose under a new configuration, if problems occur during the recording:

Right click on the results folder and select "create body from deformed shape". You have a choice to create a new file or a configuration of existing file. I generally use new file so the original stays untouched. Now a few things may happen when this command is used: – successfully created a body (desired outcome) – created body has spikes, weird shape surfaces, or invalid geometry – SW terminates For the last 2 outcomes, you will need to go back to the model, and simplify the bodies if possible (get rid of unwanted tiny features and details). Also check if finer mesh is utilized on important details, and where it will deform the most in the model. It took me a few times to correctly export the deformed shape.

Thank you for your answer, but as you can see from my attachment, I don't have that possibility.

FYI. I'm using SP1.1 of the 2015 version.

Is it good after the simulation?

To create a body from the deformation :

  1. Run a static or nonlinear study.

  2. Right-click the Results  folder and select Create Body from Warp.

  1. In the PropertyManager, click Save as Configuration  or Save as New Part/Assembly

  2. Enter the name of the configuration or new document.

The new document is saved to the location of the original part or assembly.

  1. Click .

A word of advice, SPs lower than SP2 are generally deprecated (no more bugs).

It would be a good idea to upgrade to SolidWorks 2012 SP5.

Hello

@stardy2, as @PL indicates very well, you have to right click on the body by activating a result and not on the result because there SW will not be which one to save.

So double-click on the warp that you want to save and then right-click on it.
