Hello
I can't find in SW 2014 the function to create a symmetrical part of an existing part.
I have the symmetry function where we face by face etc but from old memory, normally, we can create a distinct simetric part.

Hello
If I understood correctly, just use the "Symmetry" function which is located in the "linear repeat" tab
All you have to do is select a face as the plane of symmetry, and select a function or a field.
See attached image.
Hi @ SEMP
See this link
http://help.solidworks.com/2012/French/SolidWorks/sldworks/HIDD_DVE_FEAT_MIRROR.htm
you have the symmetry tool
http://help.solidworks.com/2012/French/SolidWorks/sldworks/Mirror_Part.htm
Derivative parts
http://help.solidworks.com/2012/French/SolidWorks/sldworks/Derived_Parts.htm
and to finish this tutorial

Yes that's right, however if you need the "normal" part and the part in symmetrical, I would lean to do the symmetry function (don't check the option to merge the result), then delete the body of the initial part.
Then put these two functions in a family of parts, so you will have the standard configuration and the symmetrical configuration.
Hoping that this solves your problem.

I agree with Guillaume Fache
you have to use symmetrical part insertion (after selecting a flat face)
See catpure...
Hi @gt22 thank you for the answer I choose as a solution because associated link,
Gfache had put his finger on it anyway
@Bart: that's exactly what I didn't want to do lol
Hello
You have to be in a room, click on a face, and press "Insert > Symmetrical Piece":
