Managing an assembly with excel

Hi all

My question is simple and yet I can't find a concrete answer. I am using the 2012 version of SW

I would like to know if from an excel file in an assembly we can:

- Give a value of a stress distance dimension

- Change the number of linear repetitions of components

- Delete parts

Thank you for your answers

Hello

Have you tried with a room family table?

Hello, the family of parts is the best way. This tutorial will answer all the questions:

The SolidWorks Family of Parts - January 2011 - Web Lunch: http://youtu.be/aGZTv99R4hE

Do you have an example to show

you want to manage

1° Your assembly constraints via an Excel table?

2° modify component repetitions

3° To suppress parts

So 3 questions and only one

Thank you for your answers.

I will explain my problem in more detail.

I'm drawing a co-voyeur and its length is variable. For this I have my two subs on each side which are unchanged and in the middle I add or remove several sub-set of chassis depending on the length I want.

When I try to drive the distance value of a contreatise it is to place one of the subsets at the distance of the other for the total length.

When I try to change the number of linear repeats it's to fill the empty space between the two ends using chassis

When I try to remove parts it's because I have several chassis of different sizes and I don't want to use them all.

What I have in mind is a basic assembly where I have all my basic sub-assemblies present at once and all my distance constraints set to 0 and my linear repetition set to 1 and through the excel sheet I delete the components I want more, positions the others and their number

Hoping I was clear

For the moment my knowledge of SW is limited to simple part assembly drawing, but I'm ready to learn. In the past I had already used families of parts but it seemed to me that it was limited to the part and not to the assembly precisely.

The families of parts are quite applicable to assemblies, for dimensions, part deletions etc.

It works in the same way as for coins: see the previous link.

I'm not going to create a new topic for my question:

Could someone tell me what is the command to remove a component from the assembly from the excel sheet and if possible from the part family.

If it is possible of course

Thank you

If you have myCADtools, you can look at the PilotAssembly tool which is an excel sheet that drives the SolidWorks assembly
