Hello to the forum.
Recently, I wanted to install the SP4.0 update of SW2015 (I was on SP3.0)
Failed to update.
Today, I uninstalled SW cleanly , with the registry.
I downloaded the full version in SP4.0..................
No longer possible to install SW, x messages " SW has encountered a problem and must close "
Even from the CD with cla SP0 it doesn't work anymore....
First time I have this, reasons and solutions?????
Thank you all

Hello
Are you on Windows 8.1?
If so, one of the latest KBs of windows update is a problem, so you have to:
Uninstall SOLIDWORKS Uninstall KB3072630 Reboot Reinstall SOLIDWORKS @+

Hello
Before we can hope to give you a solution. You will have to give us more information...
Especially exact error codes or screenshots, what is your method to "cleanly uninstall" the registry of all traces of SW? Have you thought about deleting user settings files as well?
See you.

Good evening everyone.
Thank you for your answers.
I'm on W7 64 bits.
It is an installation on a single machine (no network).
Deleting folders in HKEY-CURRENT-USER/SOFTWARE and HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE/SOFTWARE
I'm not on the machine right now, I'm going to review my error messages (SW has encountered a problem and needs to close "
A +

Did you have a CCleaner to clean it up?

Hello
I encountered the same problem and to solve it I had to burn the solidworks 2014 SP4 on a DL dvd because it did not accept to install from a hard disk slot.
There must be a blockage in the sp4 on this subject.

Oh yes, I'm stupid.
For the 2014 there was also an installation bug. You didn't have to go through the classic manager
You have to click on the .exe that is directly in the Solidworks 2014 download folder
Maybe for the 2015 it's the same....

You have to go to c:/Users/X users/My documents/Solidworks Downloads
And there, you choose the solidworks version to install (in your case the 2015 sp4)
Then in the sldim folder you click on the incone sldim.exe

@Bart:
I installed all the 2015 Service Packs without encountering the installer's problem.
Anyway we don't know the error message in question...
