and @ opiep27 there are indeed copies locally but solidworks can't find them and they remain grayed out with an error panel

If you know when your piece was good, you can easily find it on the corresponding save.
For local parts, search with Windows by also searching in the hidden and system folders with the code of your room.
Note, files with a $ in front of them are not SolidWorks files, but temporary files.
If automatic backup and recovery were not enabled, I strongly advise you to activate both of them!
This often allows you to recover lost work, as in your case:
