HP EliteBook 2540p Notebook Battery and Charger Problems

Hello

My girlfriend has an HP Pc that messs up with the battery recharging, I thought it came from the battery charger, because when you plug it in nothing lights up (no light next to the PAD and no little white dot under the tip that you plug in so that it charges).

Yesterday we went to get one at SuperU, but it's not an official charger, it's a multi-function charger (sold with several tips for several kinds of laptop), the guy from the store tries, it works, but when he arrives at our place, he messs up.

You press the button to start the computer, the 3 lights turn on and off again. I removed the battery from his computer for about 1h30 -2h, and it turns on normally, then with the little battery that there, it turns off.

I tested the multi-function charger on my computer, my screen flashes (as if it charges, then charges more, etc etc), I think the superU charger is sea **...
In power it is just 5 Volt less than my charger, so it should pass.

So, I summarize:

Multi-function charger: The lights come on, it should charge? But it turns off shortly after and sometimes it reaches the Windows desktops (not often)

Official Charger: Doesn't charge at all.

If you remove the battery for a few hours, it seems to be recharging (2% battery in 2 hours)

Where could it come from?

False contact? Dead battery?

She's had her computer for 1 year. Os: Windows Vista.

Thank you for your help,
Have a nice day

Kind regards
In addition, I found a shop to buy a laptop battery:

Will you tell me which one of the best drums

Thanks in advance

Hello

Check that your new charger delivers at least the same amperage as the old one.

Otherwise, it is possible that a battery element has failed. In this case, there is no other solution than to replace it.

Hello, indeed it happens that when a battery fails, it shorts the computer but in theory removing it would solve the problem...

Personal tip: contact HP support.

Hello.

"In power it is just 5 volts less than my charger, so it should pass. "

What are the tensions of each one. between your charger, the old, the new. I have a hard time following your logic:

If your battery is dead, but it seems to start after two hours in OFF.

If you don't use the right charger

The difference in voltage is a bit dangerous. for PC

A current too low, your PC starts but when it asks for too much current, the voltage          "collapses"  and the PC stops, given your explanations it looks very much like it.

"keep the pressure"

If your OS is Windaube Vista the PC is not brand new ;-(

+ one of the worst operating systems but you surprise me

The battery should recharge when you're on the mains

The problem with laptops is the premature wear of the batteries

if these are not unplugged when the PC is connected to the mains

From experience, and especially expensive HP and DELL, if your laptop requires 17.4V or 14.4V you must absolutely provide it with the same voltage. otherwise nothing works properly. (commercial strategy to force people to buy a food from them, just 2 or 3 times more expensive.).

As far as intensity is concerned, it's the same, but you have to stay in the 10%.
