Ability to report the revision and version number of the source file in the EPDM comment of a PDF automatically generated via EPDM jobs

Hello

We use automatic pdf generation when approving our plans via an EPDM job.

With each approval, EPDM initiates a specific task to create the pdf of the approved plan.

The problem is that the comment associated with each new release is always: "SOLIDWORKS Task Add-in".

I would like to be able to customize this comment so that I can add the revision index and the version number of the original file used to create this pdf.

This would make it possible to know at a glance whether version 5 of the pdf corresponds to that of revision 1 or revision 3. Currently we are forced to rummage through the files linked to each pdf version: we manage to do it but it's a bit long and not very practical (especially when we are looking for a slightly old version of a document with 15 or 20 versions).

If anyone has a solution, I'm all for it.

Thank you all.

Hello, which module do you use to generate the PDFs?

Using the DocPublish tool in the MyPDMTools add-in, you can set up the check-in comment using the variables related to the file. See the screenshot in attachment.

You can also set the name of the generated pdf file.

Thank you for the feedback.

We are not MyCad subscribers and therefore have not installed their PDM tools.

Otherwise that's indeed what we want to do but by setting / modifying EPDM (so now I'm sure it's feasible since Visiativ has managed to do it :-) )

Hello

If I understand correctly, your PDF files are stored in the vault. I don't see any way to change the archival comment except by a specific dev (as Visiativ had to do).

After that, there is probably a way to do things on Exel by querying the links of a file via a macro.
