Read-only issue on virtual parts

Hello

I make illustrations for technical proposals (AVP). So, when I have to modify a part or an assembly of a standard machine, I make it virtual to modify it, so that I don't have to manage multiple files that will never be reused.

But from time to time, the part or assembly that I pass in virtual remains read-only, like its original girlfriend which was "real". And there is no way to take it back in writing. Even by the collaboration option, which tells me that the file is set to read-only by the file system and that I need to change it to get write access to that file. But since it is only virtual, there is no way to do anything.

The only way out for the moment is either to save the component in "real", which in my case is not practical, or to close and start again.

Have you ever had the problem? Is this a known SW bug?

I'm on SW13.

PS: my files are either on a read-only server or on EPDM in archive.

Hi, yes it's a known bug there are several requests for improvement on the SolidWorks website:

Please verify if the option 'open referenced documents with read-only access' is enabled. The workaround would be to deactivate the option > suppress component(s) >un-suppress component(s) > Save > OK.

See SPR numbers #: 535135 and S-058645.

What if you right-click on your file, make ownership and uncheck read-only?

Edit: I didn't say anything.... As it's virtual, you don't see the file...

@.PL, do you have a STP bug number?

@bart, you're not following, it's not good! ;) My part is virtual, so it's no longer on the network, it's only in the assembly.
