You haven't saved your basemaps in SW2017 version? (Which means that they would no longer be compatible with SW2014).
What message does Solidworks send you?

- Have you made 2 separate directories to store the 2014 and 2017 basemaps?

I'm going to get a backup, and reinstall the base plans for the 2014
