dwg import problem

Hello

I have a pb under solidworks 2014 to import a 3d file in DWG. Solidworks automatically considers it to be a plan when it is a 3d file (I managed to open it in rhino).

How do I get solidworks to open it as a 3d file?

Thank you in advance.

You have to check the other box 3d curve or model

Hello, you mean exporting a 3D file in dwg right?

When saving a solidworks file in .dwg, in fact, you will end up with a rough drawing of your part / assembly.

The best (and free) way I've found is to go through Draftsight.

The method:

- Save your part/assembly as a .sat file (ACIS)

-Open Draftsight

-Type "acisin" in the Draftsight command bar (without the quotation marks)

- Save your file in .dwg from Draftsight

And there you have it, a 3D .dwg!

On the other hand, if it is indeed importing .dwg into Solidworks, follow the method of @Bart, check the box "3D curves" when importing.

Kind regards

Joss

Thank you

It was the checkbox (too used to importing 2d, I didn't see the other options anymore).
