I just turned my computer back on with solidworks and I notice that nothing has changed, even after rebooting.
That is to say my rendering is indeed polygons and my tree on the left is English.
Do you know where this comes from?

Click on the small cogwheel (option).
For the English menus, check if: "system option" tab -General > -> "use English menus" box would not be checked at random.
For the "ugly" poster, see in the "Document Properties" tab -> image quality -> play with the sliders to improve the display. But be careful, this can reduce performance depending on the type of graphics card.
