Problem result static study

Hi everyone

I have an S235 sheet of 3535x640x3 welded on both sides at 640 and on one of 3535.

The forces are gravity and 2000N/m²

During the simulation in solidworks, after having created this sheet metal part, I find myself with a maximum Von Mises constraint of 255 MPa.

If I create this part with a simple extrusion and with the same conditions, I end up with a constraint of 28.3 MPa.

Where does this problem come from? And what result should be kept?

With the simple extrusion 28.3 MPa is much too low but for the sheet metal function it is a bit high :)

Thanks in advance

Hello

A sheet metal in the simulation is a shell mesh while an extruder is a volume mesh by default.

Have you paid attention to this?

Hello Coyote,

Thank you for your answer.

No, I didn't pay attention to that indeed. What is the best type of mesh for such a simulation?

Re, the hull precisely.

That's what I was thinking.

In any case, thank you Coyote
