Propagation of inconsistent leave

Hello everyone and have a good start to the week.

Another question that bothers me! (Decidedly, I didn't think one day that I would miss Creo options like this. Haha)

I'm designing a plastic part that will be molded. And when I create a department, this little joker goes way too far in its propagation. Very clearly, I know that when machining the mold, this rounding is going to be more annoying than anything else.

How do you make sure that the fillet function does not round "in a vacuum " like in the image below?

I tried to uncheck the " tangent propagation" option but I don't see any difference at this level

Thank you

Hello
For the moment I have not found any other solution than to remove material on the extra leave. If anyone has a real solution, I'm interested too.

Hello @coin37coin ,

Can you share your piece because I don't have this problem?

Uh... No. I don't really want to share a piece that my company owns

And make a phony piece that reproduces the phenomenon?

Hi @coin37coin :v:

In fact it's because of your stop after your leave which is not in continuity.
Here are 2 images, it's more meaningful than a long text:

Non-continuous edge (your case?)

Solid Edge

If the construction of your part cannot change, in my opinion you have 3 solutions:

  • The 1st is the one you found by removing material

  • The 2nd by adding a partial edge parameter with an end condition of 0.0001mm. The disadvantage is that you have a micro delay of the leave:

  • And the 3rd is by creating a variable size fillet that ends up at 0 in the corner:

These are exactly the conclusions I was coming to @Nicolas74 ... and that's not what suits me the most!
Basically I don't have this edge shift, thank you the remains

See the attached exhibit for a representation of the problem

Yes I understand you, I also draw plastic parts! (Drafts, a joy on SolidWorks :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)
You can leave before the body is removed. but hey it's not very stable from experience
If not, you make your body leave from the ridge of the leave :+1:

Edit:
I succeeded by passing the leave before the remains:

Hello Nicolas

Do you have any idea why partial chamfers wouldn't work in your case.
If you have the 2022 version, there have been further improvements, including facilities where you manually move the length

Look here (I guess you know) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XkxiyGpmUs

Kind regards

Indeed, as suggested by others, it is better to proceed with a "sweep" of the material in a "U" shape (roughly) at the base of your boss.

Thank you all for your solutions. I have the impression that we are all a little bit groping on the subject.

I ended up, in desperation, testing the " face leave"... And miraculously, it seems to work for this specific case.

So much for the fact of managing several edges in a single function! :pensive:
